Radiator Buying Guide (Content Section)

Choosing the Right Radiator Size

Selecting the correct radiator size helps ensure your room heats efficiently and comfortably. The heat output of a radiator is measured in BTU (British Thermal Units) or Watts, which indicate how much heat the radiator can produce.

Smaller rooms such as cloakrooms or en-suites typically require lower heat output, while larger bathrooms and living spaces may require a radiator with a higher BTU rating.

When choosing a radiator, consider:

• Room size – larger rooms require higher heat output

• Ceiling height – higher ceilings may require additional heating capacity

• Insulation levels – well insulated rooms retain heat more effectively

• Window size – rooms with large windows may lose heat more quickly

For best results, choose a radiator with sufficient BTU output to comfortably heat the space.

Radiator Installation

Most modern radiators connect directly to your home's central heating system using standard 1/2" inlet and outlet connections. Installation is similar to fitting a standard household radiator.

Radiators are typically supplied with wall mounting brackets and fixings, while radiator valves are purchased separately to allow you to choose the style and control type that best suits your installation.

For safety and correct operation, radiators should always be installed following manufacturer guidelines.

Radiator Valves

Radiator valves control the flow of hot water entering the radiator and help regulate the room temperature.

Common valve options include:

• Manual valves – simple temperature adjustment

• Thermostatic valves (TRV) – automatically regulate room temperature

• Angled or straight valves – depending on pipe position

Choosing the correct valve type ensures the radiator operates efficiently within your heating system.
